Father Vincent Dillon
Father Dillon was born on April 26, 1906 in Belfast, Ireland, and was ordained a priest at Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 17, 1940 where he worked for eleven years. He came to the Diocese of Wichita in 1951 and served as an assistant at St. Mary Cathedral and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita. Other assignments for Father Dillon were to St. Francis Hospital; St. Luke Hospital in Marion (three times); Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in South Hutchinson; Villa Maria in Mulvane; Bishop Carroll High School; Mt. St. Mary Convent; St. Joseph Hospital; and Mercy Hospital in Independence. He retired in 1973 living in residence in Coffeyville but later moved to Battle Creek, MI where he died on January 29, 1984. Bishop Gerber was principal celebrant of his funeral Mass at Leila Hospital Chapel in Battle Creek, MI. Fr. Dillon was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.
